Contemporary Bronze and Stone Sculpture
Bronze and stone sculptures that seek to capture gesture, movement, and quiet reflection; producing limited-edition pieces for galleries, gardens, private collections and commissioned works.
James Lockwood
James is a sculptor living and working in Dorset. Having trained at City & Guilds Art School, then as a letter cutter under Diana Hoare, he has since worked with bronze and stone for over 30 years.
Being drawn to stone for its rhythmic sculpting practice and the time it demands, but also, in contrast, attracted to the speed and flexibility of working in clay, before casting into bronze. Equally joyful is the meditative nature characteristic of both mediums.
His work includes abstract, figurative and animalia in bronze and garden installations, memorials and letter cutting in stone
